Patient Assistance
Program
The RMLEI Foundation continues to seek ways
to reach out to the people in our communities and make crucial vision services available to all who need them, regardless of insurance level
or financial circumstances.
A Patient Assistance Program
introduced in 2005, provides assistance to those with vision-threatening problems but without the financial means to address
them. Whether these individuals require second opinions or specialized services not available
locally but available at the Eye Institute, this program provides financial assistance toward medical treatment, transportation, lodging
and meals. Working with Lions Clubs across
Colorado and Wyoming, the RMLEI Foundation receives referrals from local clubs which obtain completed applications detailing vision health
background, first opinion information from other ophthalmologists and a financial needs assessment.
In keeping with a commitment to
conscientious stewardship of funds, and seeking to reduce the amount of assistance needed, the RMLEI Foundation has secured commitments from
the Department of Ophthalmology, University Physicians, Inc., the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and The Children's Hospital to
provide significant discounts on services for patients referred by a Lions Club.
